LOOK AT ME

Well, it has been awhile since our last update, and I wanted to let everybully know that Da Mama-San is doing very well. She has gained all her weight back (and maybe then some) and she is living a normal life...she is as happy and as healthy as she can be for a terminal girl.

She is on a lot of meds every day and a raw diet of chicken and veggies and taking life easy.

She loves to eat, sleep, play (a little) and go for rides in the car.

She has a wonderful personality and is just a joy to have, she makes me laugh with all her bullie antics.

Here are some recent pic's of her and you have to agree she looks a lot better now.

DA MAMA SAN UPDATE

Well folks,
Da Mama-san is doing great, she is now on a new heptic diet and thriving. She is full of energy, playing, barking and growling (back talking me I call it) she seems to think she can have the last word now, she is running and races to beat me to the door when she thinks it is time to go for a ride in the car. She has been an absolute hoot over the past few weeks and I have seen a new girl emerge.
While this diet is not a cure for her it has helped her feel better and her quality of life has improved dramatically and that is all I can give her til that day comes when it will be time to say good bye but that is the thing, I am not sure when that day will come, and it could be years still, you just never know, so until that day does come, we live day to day and I will do what ever I can to make sure that her quality of life is good and happy.
We are still struggling to get her ALT level in the normal range but it is just a matter of time.

Please check back soon to see how Da Mama-San is doing.

UPDATE

Hi Folks,
Well, we are back to square one with Da Mama-san.
She was doing so well, gaining weight, feeling great and responding well to her meds and at her last blood draw we were so close to having completely normal liver levels.
Last week I noticed some ascities again so I took her in for a blood draw to find her liver levels have gone through the roof again, we are unsure what is causing this or why.
We are waiting on the specialist to let us know what the next steps are to treat her condition.
In the mean time she is resting some what comfortably and continues to be a trooper through it all.
Da Mama-san sends her love to all those sending her healing vibes (((((LOVES)))))

Please check back soon for an update and to see how she is doing.

THE LATEST & GREATEST

Hey all,
Da Mama-san is doing just great!! She continues to get better each and every day. I am so pleased with her recovery and very happy that we could save her life.

Although she is on a lot of medicines currently that cost a lot of money she feels better and is looking like a million bucks.

At her last blood draw (2 weeks ago) 2 out of the 3 liver levels were back in the normal range and we are working to get the last one in the normal range, once that one hit's normal she will stay on her meds for at least 6 months while her liver heals. She continues to eat me out of house and home but she currently weighs 41.5 pounds and you can no longer see her ribs or her back bone and her belly looks like a normal belly should, so she is filling out her bullie frame.

Her lil nub is starting to wag and as she gets happier her whole rear end goes from side to side, something I have not seen her do since coming in to my care. She is woofing more and trying to play (with my hands) but it is all great improvements for her.

She is a very sweet girl, please check back to see how she is doing.

MAMA-SAN'S POST SURGERY UPDATE

Hi Folks,
Mama-san's surgery went well and she is recuperating in her comfy chair.
The "mass" in her belly is not a mass but scar tissue and because of it's location and being so extremely close to her vena cava vein it was not removed since it is not the culprit of her illness.
Her liver was inflamed and biopsies were done that came back positive for severe Cholangiohepatitis.
Read more here: http://www.merckvetmanual.com/mvm/index.jsp?cfile=htm/bc/23622.htm
She is on a regimen of pills, so many that she now has her own pill organizer and is doing well at this time. Her meds will cost approximately $150 a month and she needs to be on a strict liver diet that contains low protein and a protein source such as fish. While her prognosis is stable for now it is hard to say what can happen at any given moment with this disease. She will need continued vet care and testing the rest of her life.
She is truly a girl that is a "special needs" bullie.
Please check back for more updates soon.

MAMA UPDATE

Hi Folks,

Mama got her much needed ultrasound that shows she has a 4 inch in diameter mass lodged between her liver and pancreas that could be causing her "bellie storm" and the needle biopsy shows it is not cancerous so that is VERY good news!!
Mama is now gaining weight with no problems which is also a GREAT sign.

The next step was to see a surgeon that could remove this mass and she was able to see one on Friday....the estimate for her surgery was $2500 to $3500!! This is not something that we can really wait on, Mama needs this surgery as soon as possible. While our main priority is to get these bullies the medical attention they so need and deserve we also have to watch our funds. I was able to talk with a surgeon up North in the Seattle area that has worked with CBRR for a long time and he said he could do the surgery for her and still ensure her safety, so I have transported Mama up North to be evaluated and get her much needed surgery on Wednesday.
Once she is well enough she will be transported back down to me for her after care.

While still not cheap by all means every bit we can save matters to the next bullie that comes in so we still need your help in getting Mama's surgery paid for.

I would also like to thank our rescue angels who have already donated to Mama's cause, she is so deserving of it, Mama is such a wonderful bullie girl and deserves to be well and healthy again.
Please check back on Mama's progress.

Welcome Mama

Mama is an owner surrender, she became ill about 3-4 weeks ago, her bellie doubled in size and her owners took her to the vet. Her bellie was so full of fluid she required an abdominal tap to remove the fluid in her bellie.

A lot of test, blood work and x-rays showed nothing of concern and her next step was a much needed ultrasound which her family could not afford and so they called me up and surrendered her to CBRR.

Mama has lost 10 lbs and is skin and bones, she is also loosing her muscle making her look emaciated even though she is eating. She needs an expensive ultrasound so the vets can see what is going on inside of this poor girl's abdomen. We know she has ASCITES but there are so many things that can be causing it that an ultrasound is her best option at this point.
She is a great girl, gets along well with other's and is just an absolute joy to have around. Can you please help her get her ultrasound?

Please check back for more details as they become available.

When she is ready she will not be shipped anywhere, please don't ask. Please have a current application on file before you contact us. Contact Kodie for additional information.
